Old Pasadena, January 2013.

My friend Chris was home from school for the holidays, so we met to hang out and catch up. One of our favorite places to visit and eat in is historic Old Pasadena.

Old Pasadena is filled with enough brick-lined alleys for my stonework-starved soul.

One of the alleys we ducked into was just full of interesting details at every turn.

Pipes coming out of a building.

The stone and hardware are great, but my favorite detail is the bright teal spray paint and the slight oxidation on the pipes that give off a green-blue tinge.

Chris is probably wondering why we’re spending so much time behind buildings. Because they’re cooler than the store fronts!

The sun setting made the reds and oranges richer in this intersection of two alleys.

It’s time to go home, but my mind never wanders far away from these lovely places.
